Intercept IT awarded Platinum Clean City Award for third consecutive year
Press release
London, UK - Intercept IT, the cloud computing and virtualisations service provider, has been awarded a Platinum Clean City Award by the City of London for the third consecutive year for its commitment to reducing waste and promoting recycling.
Intercept IT was presented with the award for its internal efforts to minimise paper waste using “follow me” style printing, spot checking recycling bins and engaging with suppliers to reduce wastage. Inspections were carried out by Clean City Awards Scheme officers to assess waste management practices including waste minimisation, reuse and recycling initiatives. A panel of judges decided the winners from over 1600 sites participating in the awards this year ranging from small shops to multinational companies.
Richard Gilder, CEO of Intercept IT, said about the award, “By their nature the cloud and virtualisation solutions we provide to our customers are green conscious, as they consolidate resources and reduce the carbon footprint. There is a lot of troubling green washing happening in the technology industry and it is nice to receive an accolade that recognises our dedication to green IT. The Clean City award acknowledges that we practice what we preach by reducing waste and promoting recycling within our organisation.”
The awards were presented by The Chairman of Port Health and Environmental Services at Mansion House on 10th February 2012. Launched in 1994, the Clean City Awards Scheme aims to develop partnerships with City businesses, both large and small by raising the profile of responsible waste management and recognising and rewarding good practice by encouraging businesses to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
